James Dunlop

(Gangrels Curling Club & Crosshill Curling Club)

I am fortunate to live in an unspoilt rural are of South Ayrshire, noy far from Burns, cottage at Alloway and Turnberry Hotel and Golf Course.

I am a farmer, same as generations of my family before me. Dunlops have farmed Mackailston for over 100 years where we have a dairy herd.

I have curled for 40 years both with my local club, Crosshill, and with the Gangrels in Ayr, an all male club. I have won both club championships but my highlight was when as President of Ayr Curling Club we managed to be runners-up in the Inter ice- rink championship for the Maxwell Trophy.

My wife, Margaret, also enjoys curling, that is when she is not teaching in a village Primary school. We partner each other at the local bridge club and more recently (too late) taken to playing golf.

We have three children, each immersed in their own career as. Alison is a press officer with British Nuclear Fuel at Sellafield, Morag is a finance director with an American company in Greenock and our son John is an electronic engineer with affirm in Belfast, hoping to be a farmer. Thanks to Morag and Chris we have one grandchild, Charlie.
