Robin Copland
(Currie and Balerno Curling Club)
Robin was born in Glasgow in 1953. He went to Belmont House School in Glasgow and then Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh before attending
Strathclyde University, from where he graduated BA in 1975 and Dip Acc in 1976.
He is married to Lois with three boys, Graeme, David and Ian. They live in Balerno, just outside Edinburgh and the whole family are keen
curlers. He golfs (badly) at Baberton, Pollok and Portpatrick Golf Clubs. Other interests are reading, photography and shipping.
He is a partner in a Scottish-based training consultancy, Scotwork, which runs negotiating skills training courses all over the world.
He used to curl competitively and was Scottish Champion in 1989, going on to come 5th in the World Championships that year in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the Scottish Mens Team Manager in the 2000 World Championships in Glasgow. He was runner up in the Scottish Championship in 1978 and reached the semi final stages of the competition on three other occasions. In addition, he is a past winner of the Edinburgh International, Ayr International, Inverness Invitation, Lockerbie Invitation, Euro Curl and British Open competitions.
Now, he contents himself with coaching and organising the Junior Club at Gogar Park. His curling, sadly, is about as bad as his golf!

Robert Mathieson
(Greenlaw Curling Club)
I was born in 1943, at Anstruther, Fife, Scotland the youngest of four children to Jean(nee Small) and Robert Mathieson. My childhood was
enjoyed at Balmonth Farm, near Anstruther until the family moved in 1958, to Highridge Hall, Kelso, Scottish Borders. I was educated at Bell Baxter Academy, Cupar.
I farmed Highridge Hall, a mixed arable/stock farm from 1965 until 1997. My hobbies besides curling for 30 years with Greenlaw Curling Club
include travelling, badminton, reading, golf and gardening. My achievements in the curling world, besides Border Ice Rink/Club competitions, were crowned by being in a winning rink, at the British
Open, Stirling.
In 1992, I married Helen (nee Fleming/Woodcock) and have two step-children, Wendy (32) married to R John Stevenson and John (30) engaged to Michelle
wedding in June. We both thoroughly enjoy our retirement, along with our 3 dogs and 2 cats. Our home, near Greenlaw to which all are welcome was originally a blacksmith shop build in
the 1700s.
