John Phillips

(Strathendrick Curling Club)

I live in the village of Killearn, Stirlingshire with my wife Helen.  Killearn is a small country village about 20 miles west of Glasgow. We have two grown-up children and three grandchildren.

I am President of Strathendrick Curling Club, which has recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.  We have eighty members and curl between Stirling and Forest Hills ice rinks.  I followed my father’s tradition and now all my family are keen curlers, including my eldest grand-daughter.  I played against the Canadian touring side on their last two visits and established lasting friendships.

I retired from farming four years ago and started a landscape gardening business.  I am a keen gardener and enjoy the odd game of golf.

Has served as President of his club and also past President of Ross-shire Province and competed against the last three Canadian tours.  Now curls out of Inverness Ice Rink where he coaches the youngsters.

Lives on the farm with his partner Eleanor, also a curler, where he breeds and finishes cattle and grows malting barley for the local brew – malt whisky.  Played football at Fortrose Academy and at College and now enjoys watching all sports.
