Irving Davidson

(Lochmaben Castle Curling Club)

I was born in1952 at Muirhouse, Lockerbie, and subsequently attended Lockerbie Primary and Secondary Schools. Before heading for college, a year at home with the family farming partnership, somehow turned into 32 years – and counting.

Liz and I married in1981 and we have a daughter, Lynsey (19), and a son, Martin (17). Lynsey curls and is president of Lockerbie Young Curlers, while Liz and Martin reckon I spend enough time at the ice rink for both of them!

Athletics was my first sport of choice, with wins in the Scottish Schools and Scottish Junior Championships at both 110 m. and 400 m. hurdles. With Lockerbie Ice Rink so close at hand, however, curling soon replaced athletics --- a far more sociable sport --- which might also explain the lack of any major successes.

President of Lochmaben Castle CC, Chairman of South of Scotland Ice Rink Ltd. board of directors, founder member and Chairman of Lockerbie Curling School, are some of the various positions I have enjoyed over the past 30 years. Though still playing regularly, I get as much of a kick from helping newcomers to our sport, and supporting our up-and-coming curlers.
